What Old Glory Means To Me

I think the flag of the U.S.A. is like a symbol. It symbolizes freedom, rights and equality. Freedom means the right to believe the way we want to and be who we want to be. Rights means to do as we please (within reason, of course). Equality means to be treated fairly and equally.

The stars and stripes are symbols, too. The fifty stars represent the fifty states. The thirteen stripes represent the thirteen colonies. I also think that the colors are symbols. I believe red is for blood, white is for life, and blue is for freedom.

When I think of what people did for me, I wonder what difference I can make. I think of people like Susan B. Anthony and people who fought and are still fighting in wars.

The flag is beautiful because it represents America.
