The fourth grade stepped back in Wisconsin history to the time of lumberjacks. The annual Lumberjack Day started off with a hearty lumberjack breakfast including pancakes, sausage, doughnuts, eggs, milk and much more. Traditional lumberjack messhall rules were followed...including not talking! After filling up with stovelids, the lumberjacks worked outside with the crosscut saw and peavey pole. The kids became river rats keeping logs moving down river and practiced identifying different types of trees. Teams of lumberjacks competed in the great log pulling race. The teams raced against each other pulling a ninety pound log behind them. The top teams earned ribbons for their efforts. All of the lumberjacks had a fun and tiring day! |
